Jacob’s Story
“Jacob was the smartest person I’ve known” is stated by so many. He truly had unique insight and an uncanny ability to open eyes and minds. Jacob was articulate and engaging and chose to be persistent at shedding light on the “other sides of the story” that were missing. He taught us to think higher by examining and taking off the blinders that we wear to avoid the uncomfortable realities.
Jacob chose to read the editorial page and was incredibly knowledgeable about current events and social issues. Coupled with his love and comprehension of history he had the tools to discuss topics and encourage decision making with informed opinion. Jacob cared about everyman and equality for all. It bothered him to see the injustices and the dangers that deception and hidden agendas cause, and he was passionate about challenging them.
Mostly, he encouraged us to stand up with opinions that are founded upon truth and fact. Jacob implored us to speak up and challenge the falsehood in much of the information we are given and take notice of the harm that is caused when we fail to question, “Is this the Truth?”. This is profound in Jacob’s story and why The HAWK Foundation strives to raise awareness about responsible technology use and to encourage a constant commitment to decency in words and in actions.
